Professor Hogan's journey, rooted in a love for words and analysis, led her to law school where she discovered her passion for the human side of law, focusing on listening to stories and solving problems. She co-founded New York Law School’s Criminal Defense Clinic, shaping future caring professionals, and directed Externship Programs for over 20 years, bridging classroom learning with real-world experience.

A sought-after lecturer and teacher, she led advocacy programs for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Dedicated to improving indigent defense, she co-chaired NYCLA’s Task Force and served on the IDOOC, and played a key role in NYCLA’s Federal Criminal Practice Institute, promoting diversity in federal court representation. Additionally, she served on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on the Judiciary.
